Falklands meatpacking company looking for new general manager
The Falklands slaughterhouse is certified and qualified to export worldwide
Falkland Islands Meat Company Ltd. or FIMCo is looking for a new General Manager, who in addition to the duties of the role – ensuring sufficient funds for processing, sales and financial planning – will have to keep the company’s Board of Directors informed.
In addition to the recently approved five-year business plan, the General Director will be responsible for the operational and strategic management of the company, identifying and implementing the development and improvement of the operational efficiency of the factory and production in general, at the same time ensuring the maintenance of the highest level of certification that the Sandy Bay slaughtering and processing unit has, to comply with the regulations of the most demanding markets in the world and Halal rites.
Candidates for the position must have a degree in business administration or similar studies, or have a resume in business administration; experience in carrying out administrative and managerial changes in the matter; knowledge or understanding of the meat and livestock industry, the Falklands agricultural system and the rest of the community; knowledge and experience in the meat and livestock industry, especially slaughtering and deboning, is an advantage; minimum qualification of Grade 3 in Food Safety and also in terms of disposal of remains and debris arising from the operation of the manufacturing unit; in pest control, and corresponding qualifications in Health and Food Safety management, in addition to proven capacity in financial management.
The chosen person must be motivated and able to work independently while also being an effective team member. You must have a strategic mindset and be willing and able to explore potential opportunities to improve business results.

The slaughterhouse processes between 40,000 and 50,000 sheep per harvest, in addition to keeping the local market supplied with beef.
