To say that Destiny 2 is in a tough spot is an understatement; above all after its massive drops in player numbers.
It is a problem that also affects the owners of Bungie, Sony, as Your investment does not bring the expected results. More pressure for the studio, which needs to regain the star title.
Attracting more fans won’t be easybut at Bungie they have already drawn up a plan, which starts with new content based on Star Wars.

Bungie tries to make Destiny 2 successful again
Tyson Green, director of Destiny 2, admitted to IGN that the game is not at its best; and It is something that is related to the type of users.
“The number of saga followers who remain loyal to Destiny 2 is growing, but There are very few new users who approach the game”, Green admits.
“This contraction is a problem for a game as a serviceto which you want to dedicate large expansions that attract users.”
The Confines of Destiny, the expansion released in Julywas heavily criticized for the obstacles it introduced; starting with a new hub that received a lot of criticism.
The Final Form DLC was much more satisfying. The problem is that, as the title indicates, it closed so many loose ends that It can be considered the definitive ending of the story..
“People were very satisfied, but then there was a drop in players”explains Green. “AND It was because we concluded the Destiny saga”.
The director recognizes that “We didn’t do it the right way”but insists that the Destiny universe still has many more stories to offer.
One of them will be Deserters, the expansion inspired by Star Wars. Available on December 2nd, it picks up the events of The Ends of Destiny, hunting the Wanderer.
Green suggests that this new expansion is almost a compromise: a way to attract new fans, but at the expense of elements the team disagrees with.
“The content of the sandbox, the syndicates, the lightsaber or the blasters… These are things we would definitely never have done.. But we have to take them forward because there are people who have fun with it”he confesses.
There is another factor: exhaustion. Destiny 2 will be nine years old in 2026a wear and tear that has now become more evident than ever.
While Bungie works on the third installment, Destiny 2 will continue to be active and receiving content, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
