What would today be without some of Elon Musk’s outbursts? And how can we forget when he boasted of being “the Diablo 4 world champion”, something that was later questioned.
Since then, the owner of X originated a study which will create games using AI, in addition to demonstrating its (non-existent) expertise with titles such as Path of Exile 2.
Now Musk has his eye on League of Legends, with an idea that brings his personal stamp: have Grok’s AI play against an elite team in the game.

Elon Musk proposes that Grok beat League of Legends champions
Through a message from X, Musk challenged the best League of Legends team to face Grok’s artificial intelligence.
“Let’s see if Grok 5 can beat the best human team in League of Legends”it says. “Grok 5 is designed to be able to play any game, just by reading the instructions and trying it out”.
Grok can only look at the monitor with a camera and sees no more than a person with 20/20 vision would. What is more, reaction latency and click rate are not faster than human.
Although he doesn’t mention it (perhaps because he doesn’t even know them), the message is addressed to T1, the winning MOBA team in the last three international tournaments…. And they seem interested.
Also on X, T1’s official account posted a gif of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the team’s star. With the “chitón” gesture, T1 responds that they are ready for the challenge.
To further complicate the situation, Grok’s own AI accepted the challenge: “I’m excited to see Grok 5 take on League of Legends pros under these tight restrictions. Count me in on the journey”.
Only one person was missing from this mess: Marc ‘Tryndamere’ Merrill, co-CEO of Riot. He is also excitedand Musk responds this way: “let’s discuss this”.
The reactions are of all types: there are those who consider the proposal ridiculous, but also those who want T1 to crush Grok 5 in one match.
While the debate over the use of AI in the industry is full of supporters and detractors, Musk adds fuel to the fire with his latest idea. A problem that will undoubtedly increase in 2026.
