Todd Howard confirms that Fallout 76 isn’t the only game in the RPG saga they’re working on, and it appears he’s referring to Fallout 3 Remastered.
Never before has the Fallout saga had such a media status as it does now. All thanks to the Amazon Prime Video television series, whose first episode of season 2 will premiere on December 17th with clear inspirations in Fallout: New Vegas, the Obsidian classic.
Now everyone is remembering Fallout 4, as the Anniversary Edition is now available (with some negative reviews, it must be said), while the MMO Fallout 76 continues to receive content.
But it is known that Precipitation 3The first ”modern” game in the franchise, will have a remake similar to Oblivion Remastered, which may in fact be in the hands of Virtuos. Bethesda Game Studios will once again serve as publisher and closely oversee the project.
Todd Howard did not confirm, but highlighted that your teams are working on different Fallout projects…and it’s not all updates for Fallout 76.
”Hundreds of people are working on Fallout right now, with 76 and some other things we’re doing”, he said in an interview with GQ, where he also previewed details of The Elder Scrolls 6 and when the long-awaited RPG could arrive.
The VGC medium assures that one of these things (not the only one) is Fallout 3 Remasteredthe new version (not a remake or a typical remaster) of the acclaimed 2008 RPG that would arrive on PC and current consoles.
Fallout 3, the game with the best start

Few games can boast of having a great start. Fallout 3 is one of them, although at the time it caused some fans to send death threats to the Bethesda offices. Let’s remember that this title was the revival of a saga created by Interplay and Black Isle in 1997.
In the aforementioned interview, Todd Howard is asked about his “best game”. Does not specify any, but recognizes What’s the best that each one has? of his projects, from Fallout 3 to Starfield.
”I think Fallout 3 has the best start. I think Starfield has by far the best combat system and overall gameplay. I think the variety of landscapes in Fallout 76 is really good. In terms of tone and player freedom of action, I think Skyrim is very good”.
Fallout 3 begins with the player being born in Vault 101’s cold clinic, followed by his first steps from the crib to the playroom, his own birthday, and the fateful day where everything changes forever.
They also asked him about the difference in tone between each game in the saga. New Vegas is carefree, wacky and surreal, while Fallout 4 adopts a more epic style, and Fallout 3 is depression turned into a video game in a post-nuclear environment.
”I like that there is a difference. Fallout 3 has a very raw tone. Fallout 4 is a little more hopeful. If you watched a minute of each game, there is a very clear shift in tone, even if just on a visual level. There are moments in the series when elements of both merge to achieve the best possible adaptation.”.
Many expected Fallout 3 Remastered to be announced on Fallout Day 2025, but Bethesda kept the project under wraps. Who knows, maybe we’ll have better luck the future Xbox Developer Direct next January.
You can play Fallout 3 on PC and systems like Steam Deck or ROG Xbox Ally, as well as Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One through backwards compatibility, Game Pass, or the cloud. The original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are also an option.
