A leak reveals that Fortnite could add real money gambling, although Epic denies the information and qualifies the news.
Fortnite is going through a critical moment, thanks to The Simpsons. The season dedicated to Springfield is taking offenough to register record numbers of players.
An attraction that was transferred to the main YouTubers, also motivated by additions such as pets. But not all the news seems positive.
Despite its strict regulatory and protection control, Fortnite would be preparing for a very controversial measure: add bets with V-Bucks.
Epic denies that Fortnite will add betting
In a deleted X post, insider ShiinaBR announced that Fortnite will soon receive “betting mechanics”.
It is known that this new mechanic will be used in games created with the Unreal Editor in Fortnite. I mean, that would be focused on community-created experiences.
In this way, You can buy V-Bucks with real money and spend them on random itemswithout the buyer (in this case, bettor) knowing what he will receive.

Yes, indeed, Mechanics must comply with the regulations of each country; some of which completely prohibit betting of this or any other type.
It represents a partial novelty, as there are already bets on Fortnite content; but Until now, they were carried out with money obtained in the gamenot buying V-Bucks.
After the news was published, Epic Games contacted Insider Gaming to deny that they will add bets…Or rather, they qualify it.
According to the editor, betting is against Fortnite’s own Developer Guidelineswhich in section 1.11 vetoes “implementing betting content, sweepstakes or casino-style games”, which are “prohibited whether they involve real money or use virtual currency”.
They also refer to section 1.15.5where it is indicated that “teaching or prominently displaying images or activities associated with real-world gambling, casino games, or games of chance that offer a prize, even if they do not directly simulate a gambling experience, is not permitted in any way.”
Two rules that should veto the “bets” that Fortnite will receive. From Epic they prefer to play with language, and call them “random payment objects”.
They also make it clear that these “random payment objects” will be attributed to the regulations, which require tell the player the probabilities of each objectbefore making the purchase.
Epic’s nuances will or will not be valid when Fortnite launches this new mechanic; But let’s remember that countries like Belgium, France, Austria, Germany or Spain itself have strict measures in this regard.
