We have already spent three decades Undead on television and, during all these years, one of the absolute constants has a name and surname: Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), who plays the character created by Roberto Kirman since 2010.
Daryl’s popularity led AMC to not do away with him when Undead came to an end, but it was one of the spin-offs/sequels that went into immediate development to expand the franchise. The current gave us The Walking Dead: Those Who Live, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

For four seasons, Norman Reedus roamed Europe ravaged by the virus that turned the dead into walkers with a relentless hunger for living flesh. The outbreak also changed the survivors, hardening and molding them for a ruthless world where one mistake meant death.
In season 2, Melissa McBride joined Reedus as Carol Peletier. The original plan was for the series to star the two, but McBride decided to spend the first season at home with his family instead of filming on another continent.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon enters post-production
With excellent reception from critics and the public, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon arrived in its third season on Spanish soil, where part of the fourth installment was also filmed, which will mark the end of the series.
In fact, Norman Reedus has just announced the end of filming for the fourth season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon which, for now, marks his farewell to the character he has played for 15 years. This deserved a message for the fans, and so it was:
“Today is Daryl Dixon’s last day of filming. It has been such a joy to play this character with all of you for so long. I feel blessed, I really do. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart“.
Although Norman Reedus’ post seems like a farewell, the producer of the adaptations of Undead for AMC, Scott M. Gimpleexpressed interest in continuing to develop the character and eventually reunite as many of the original survivors as possible.
Time will tell to what extent this is possible. For now, we continue to wait for the last season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonwhich will arrive at AMC in 2026 with that farewell scent that Norman Reedus leaves us.
