Let it Die Inferno fans accuse the game of abusive use of AI and faithful to the game’s title ask to “let it die”

Within the soulslike genre, the surreal Let it Die released in 2016 went from being an unnoticed title to becoming a cult game. Nine years later, it’s still active on PlayStation and PC.

Its success was attempted to be replicated with Deathverse, a failed multiplayer. Now comes Let It Die: Inferno, more faithful to the original and by Supertrick Gamesco-creators of the first game with Grasshopper.

It sounds great, but the “fine print” has already been found: Inferno uses generative AI in almost every aspect, something fans are getting very wrong.

PlayStation 5 Pro

The most powerful console in history has 4K with Ray Tracing and an immense catalog of high-quality games.

Let It Die: Inferno is a feast of generative AI

The listing for Let It Die: Inferno on Steam indicates frequent use of AI. And by “frequent” we mean in most elements of the game.

This is how they explain it: in the sound, music and graphics of this gamewe use elements that were generated by AI and that we modified and adjusted ourselves”.

Going into detail, Supertrick reveals that it used these tools in textures of stage posters, images of Records, videos from Noticiário Minuto, voices and music.

As much as it bothers Epic’s CEO, Steam requires studios to provide this type of information. This way consumers become more informed; and in this case, the reactions are mostly negative.

On forums like Resetera, Hell is invited to “let it die”a play on the original title of Let It Die.

Steam should let you filter out games that use AI when purchasing them. It would be a good way for developers to take note”says one user.

They are equally dissatisfied on the saga’s Reddit, where they say “What a disappointment to see how a saga with such a unique aesthetic uses AI”.

They also remember that The original Let it Die opted for limitless (human) creativity. For example, Akira Yamaoka contacted 100 Japanese bands for the game’s music.

Inferno does not have the alibi of being free, as was the 2016 title. It will be a paid game (24.99 euros)and in the case of PS5, an active PS Plus subscription will be required.

With its PvPvE formula, Let it Die: Inferno arrives on PS5 and PC on December 4th. We will then know if its use of AI is justified, or if we are facing another case like that of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
