Switch 2 changes after Nintendo’s 21.0.0 update: Compatibility has been improved with some games, but third-party docks no longer work.
Nintendo Switch 2 will end in 2025, giving users a headache users using third-party docksas the recent 21.0.0 update appears to be causing problems when playing with them.
Although It’s also been wonderful for other players because compatibility with at least one Nintendo Switch game has been improved and now no longer presents any problems.
As we see in Nintendo Life, this is Xenoblade Chronicles
As appears on the website to check compatibility, the aforementioned game received an update on November 11, 2025 to resolve the error and put an end to the problem.
“Previously identified bugs have been resolved with an update“, reads the patch notes. Of course, what the site doesn’t show is any other specific information.
But come on, with the game now behaving like this”consistent“, the Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition must work and be able to play normally on Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 Update 21.0.0: Improvements and Chaos
The least bad part of this new version on console is that the Third-party docks are having some malfunctions normally, with some even not working.
On Reddit, as you can see below, a user created a thread for others to comment on what happens to them or what they see online; but it only takes a quick look to see that there are some.
“On its website, Jembo warns users not to update to 21.0.0 while its team works on firmware updates for its cables and docks.“, comments one person.
“Jsaux has a note on its website asking not to update the Switch 2, even if you use one of its docks“, also reads.”I have the Gamestop dock, I can confirm that with 21.0.0 it no longer works“says someone else.
The good news is that it doesn’t seem to be a general thing: “AverMedia Core Go (with updated firmware) is confirmed to still work with version 21.0” says one user.
The thread is full of people, so the summary is this: Nintendo improves compatibility with at least one Switch game for Switch 2, but ruins third-party docks.
