Nintendo confirms the release date for Pokémon Pokopia for Switch 2, the promising life simulator that will reveal a new trailer this week.
Surely you’ve dreamed of an Animal Crossing-style Pokémon game, which allows you to live your second life with Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle, while managing your own farm. Well, you must know that it exists and is called Pokémon Pokopia.
It was one of the surprise announcements from September’s Nintendo Direct, when it was revealed as an exclusive release for Switch 2 in 2026.
Nintendo confirmed the release date from Pokémon Pokopia, and now we know the life simulator is coming next March 5, 2026 for the new hybrid console.
Pokémon Pokopia is the work of Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo studio responsible for the Dynasty Warriors saga. The game transforms us into a Ditto that adopts human form (boy or girl), and that’s when it begins its own adventure surrounded by other Pokémon.
With the help of Squirtle we will learn how to water the plants, while Charmander will be vital for lighting a fire and knowing how to cook. Bulbasaur will use Foliage to cut grass, and Pikachu will be vital in tasks involving electricity.
The date announcement was not accompanied by any trailer, but a new trailer is expected with more details from Pokémon Pokopia to this Thursday, November 13th. And we remember that Tomorrow, November 12th, reservations open on Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store.
The first Pokémon that is a key card

Now that you know the date of Pokémon Pokopia, you are definitely looking forward to pre-ordering it tomorrow. However, you should know that its physical edition for Switch 2 Includes the game in key card or Game Key-Card format.
It’s strange, since Pokémon is Nintendo’s own franchise, although it is true that its development studio is external (Omega Force belongs to Koei Tecmo Studios).
The news was confirmed with a new official video published by Nintendo on YouTube, which teaches how key cards work on switch 2.
And, interestingly, Pokémon Pokopia is the title used as an example for thisa fact that disappointed many fans who expected the cartridge to include the complete game.
Perhaps this will discourage those who would like to buy the game physically, although for now Nintendo has not expressly confirmed this. We hope that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we can clear up any queries when bookings open.
”Step into the shoes of a Ditto and transform an empty lot into a beautiful home for various Pokémon. You can have fun in a thousand ways, such as collecting fruits, collecting stones and wood, creating furniture, cultivating the land to harvest vegetables, building houses for the Pokémon you find, and much more!”.
Pokémon Pokopia is one of the next exclusive games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Now we know that it will be available from March 5th next year, albeit with bittersweet news such as its physical edition in key card format.
