In an interview with Press Start, Kumazawa reveals more details about the Switch 2 port, specifically one of the missing features they tried to implement in this version.
Unfortunately, Resident Evil Requiem will not be compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 mouse mode. The game’s producer recognizes that it was unable to make it work well within the playable framework.
”We tried hard to implement mouse controls on Nintendo Switch 2. But it made the gameplay confusing and too complicated.”.
Gyroscope instead of mouse mode
We would love to play Resident Evil Requiem with the Switch 2’s mouse mode, but that won’t be possible. Producer Masato Kumazawa recognizes that They failed to implement it correctly.

”What we did was leverage previous experience developing these Switch games to help us develop the Nintendo Switch 2.”, says the producer.
On a technical level, Kumazawa believes that It wasn’t difficult to optimize Resident Evil Requiem move at 60 FPS on Switch 2, because they’ve been working on ports of games for a wide range of devices on PC for years.
”By porting them to computers with a wide range of specs, we were also able to ensure that the game was optimized for Nintendo Switch 2. So, in a manner of speaking, it wasn’t too difficult”.
