With just one season, shogun took home 18 Primetime Emmy Awards. That alone is reason to hope for a second season, but the FX (Disney+) series led by Hiroyuki Sanada (Sanada Hiroyuki) was a true gift for lovers of feudal Japan and its intrigues.
Based on the novel by James Clavelwhich was adapted for television in 1980, shogun This takes us to the period of the Ruling Council, prior to the rise of the Tokugawa Shogunate. However, the series (and the novel) brings us closer to these events through a fictional version of Tokugawa Ieyasu (Ieyasu Tokugawa), Yoshii Toranaga (Toranaga Yoshii).
Before Toranaga they carry John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), an English navigator whose ship calls in Japan and proves his worth to the feudal lord by sharing Western strategies and technology with him. All this time Board of Regents he joins forces to erase Toranaga from the map.
After the great success of the 1st season of shogun FX was quick to renew the series for two more seasons, but has been slow to shape the second, which is always a good sign despite the difficult wait.
