Unlike consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2, for which it is possible to find hundreds of peripherals, with the ROG Xbox Ally the situation is very different, being a little more difficult to find. accessories that are worth it and, above all, that are cheap. Maybe it’s because of the restrictive launch price or the fact that it’s only been on sale for a month.
Apart from the official ASUS accessories, which aren’t exactly cheap, the truth is that there isn’t much to choose from. Fortunately, one of the manufacturers I like most, JSAUX, already has some of its first accessories ROG Xbox Ally for sale. For those who don’t know them, they specialize in Steam Deck and ROG Ally, for which they have launched different types of docks, a modular box and more accessories of all kinds.
On this occasion, they didn’t stray too far from their usual peripheral lines, but that doesn’t stop them from being among my must-have ROG Xbox Ally accessoriesthanks to its excellent balance between functionality, quality and price. After some of them are out of stock for a few days, they will be available again.
As always, and although it applies to any accessory, I like to remember that it is peripherals with very specific and specific use casesand they don’t have to be what you’re looking for or need.
Serve as an example slim carrying case: There are thicker models, with the capacity to also carry the charger… but this time I opted for a case as small as possible, since the ROG Xbox Ally is already a fairly large device, and I was looking for something small to carry in my backpack. If you need a case to also carry the charger, logically it won’t be the best option for you…
Slim Carrying Case for ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally
Unlike its huge catalog of cases for Nintendo Switch 2, with ROG Xbox Ally JSAUX’s offering is much more limited, and is currently limited to just two models that are identical in both finishes and appearance, although they differ in thickness and ability to carry accessories. What I was able to test is the Slim Carrying Case or “Slim” Carrying Case.
As the name suggests, it is a thin box, which adds just over 1 cm to the thickness of the console and follows its shapes, it is not a simple box. Its rigid construction ensures that neither the screen nor any elements will be damaged while it is inside (unless you are very beastly, throw it from the sixth floor or something like that). If you carry it in your backpack and hit it, it will be perfectly protected.
The finish resembles nylon or a fabric that, a priori, seems resistant and made to last in “battle”. Come on, it looks like it’s going to last.
Like other thin cases, The front cap has two rigid projections that act as a “dome” to protect the drumsticks from accidental or unwanted pressure This could end up damaging them when transporting the console.
The interior is lined with soft plushand has cutouts to fit the shape of the console like a glove, from the rear buttons to the characteristic handles of the ROG Xbox Ally (in controller format). It also has a separator, which allows us to carry SD cards to have our game library at hand, and which can serve as a support to place the console vertically (to watch a film), and which protects the screen when we carry the console.
Two other details complete its design: a strap to hold the case and the possibility of attaching a strap, included, to carry the case attached to the wrist. This slim case costs US$27.99 (about 24 euros at the exchange rate).
The model that is not thin and allows you to carry the charger and accessories (like the dock that I will talk about below), goes up to $ 29.99 (about 25 euros in exchange). These are quite low prices, if we compare them with the official case.
6-in-1 Multifunctional Docking Station
As I mentioned before, JSAUX has a three-year history with Steam Deck docks, which were later followed by universal designs for ROG Ally and other established PCs like Legion Go. And while many of them are universal, perhaps This 6-in-1 dock is one of its best models.
Unlike other docks I tried, here I found two very different pieces. On one side is the base, which has two slots, one for inserting the consolidated PC and the other for fixing the “brick” with all the ports and connectors.
The base has a rubber piece that we can place or remove depending on the console we are going to attach: some narrower ones can dance without this rubber piece; For larger devices like the ROG Xbox Ally, you may need to remove it to fit properly.
Once the block with all the ports, which is located behind the console, is connected, simply plug it into the power supply and connect its USB-C cable to the console (it is longer and more comfortable than other docks) so that we can use all of its ports and receive power at the same time. It is a very simple design, but extremely functional and practical.which also allows it to be used with a PC.
Among the 6 ports it includes, we can find three USB 3.1 ports, two USB-A and one USB-C (to connect mice, keyboards, external hard drives or any accessory), as well as a 1000 Gbps Ethernet port to connect the console to the wired Internet or to a HDMI 2.1 to be able to play up to 4K at 120 Hz (or 1080p at 240 Hz)as long as your monitor or screen supports these high refresh rates.
In addition to this complete functionality, it also offers customization options. The pad has a small cover that we can remove to insert a card with the print you want, whether it’s about games, or about your family… it’s a joke, but other docks don’t have it.
It is a dock compatible with 100W chargers (necessary to charge the device while playing), in addition to being Compatible with the new ROG Xbox Ally low power mode.
Best of all is that we talk again about an adjusted pricewhich is not nonsense (like the 100 euros that the official Steam Deck Dock cost at launch). This 6-in-1 Dock Station can be purchased in Spain and currently costs 45.99 euros. There is a white variant, but it is only sold by the manufacturer on its website.
Anti-reflective tempered glass
I’m done with what’s for me a basic of any device that has a screen,. Yes, I’m referring to tempered glass, which can prevent scratches on the most delicate part or, what’s worse, screen breakage. On Amazon they have the basic glass, made up of two pieces, priced at 10.99 euros. But that’s not the model I’m going to talk about.
What I tried is the Anti-glare screen protector or anti-glare screen protector, which is a frosted glass that, as its name suggests, minimizes the annoying effect of light reflections on the screen. On the official website it costs almost the same as the basic model on Amazon, that is, 12.99 dollars, which in return is around 11 euros (to which shipping costs must be added).
It is a kit that It also includes two glasses and the necessary accessories for installation, such as a damp cloth to remove dirt. or a plastic guide to help you place the glass (unfortunately, it was designed for previous ASUS consoles like ROG Ally If I did this, since I’m a bit of a “claw”…
I liked it because yes It absorbs reflections better than I expected. This doesn’t eliminate them completely, but it will make them less annoying while you play. At least with artificial light, which is what I’ve been doing the tests with.
And all this, with some more than remarkable features: 9H hardness and coating that repels fingerprints, thickness of 0.33 mm (does not affect the screen’s sensitivity, continues to respond equally well)…
With this we come to the end of these Essential Peripherals for ROG Xbox AllyIf like me you were looking for some accessories to protect or expand the functionality of your device, without leaving a fortune along the way.
As on other occasions, it is likely that these peripherals will soon arrive in stores across the country, which will make purchasing them easier without paying customs and shipping costs.
