
If you are a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber, know that the last week of November 2025 brings some new features to the service’s retro catalog, both on Switch and Switch 2.
This time it’s not about new Gamecube games, but about 4 classics from the NES and Game Boy (two and two) which are now available by surprise.
Remember this NES and Game Boy titles (like those on the SNES and Game Boy Color) can be enjoyed on both Change online pattern as in Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
The new features that are available starting today, November 26th, are: battle frogs and Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos for NES, as well as Bionic Command and Kid Icarus: of myths and monsters for Game Boy.
Additionally, Nintendo has included a nostalgic new feature for emulating classics on Switch Online: now we can choose which home screen we want to see on all retro platforms.
In the settings you can select between several home screens (for example, there are three different ones on the Game Boy) and activate it by simply moving the console’s left joystick when we start a classic.
New Switch Online games coming November 2025
The big news in this batch is Battletoads, a challenging beat ’em up originally released in 1991 that It is part of the best rare games (Rareware at that time) throughout its history.
Battletoads has the honor of being one of the most difficult games of all time, especially if we talk about the dreaded Turbo Tunnel level, considered one of the most complicated in history.
The NES catalog also receives Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, second part of Namco’s original trilogy released in 1990, thus completing Ryu Hayabusa’s classic saga after Ninja Gaiden (1988) and Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (1991).
Regarding the Game Boy news, we are very pleased with Bionic Commando, the Capcom classic published in 1987 also for arcades, which even had a reboot for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
It is also incorporated Kid Icarus: Of Myth and Monsters, sequel to the original NES game released in 1991, which uses the same graphics engine as the popular Metroid II: The Return of Samus.
Now you can enjoy these retro gems on your Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, with rewind functions, quick saves, improved resolution/performance, and the ability to change the intro.
