A Genial/Quaest poll released on Tuesday showed that 41% of Brazilians believe that COP30, the climate conference held this week in Belem (Pennsylvania), will bring positive results for the country. At the same time, 41% believe that it will not make a difference, while 7% of the population believe that the event will have negative consequences. 11% did not know or did not answer.

In October, the digital discussion around COP30 saw an increase in positive mentions in the week between the 22nd and 28th of that month, according to a Quaest poll conducted at the request of GLOBO. Posts supporting the conference increased from 22% to 26% compared to the previous seven days, while negative posts decreased from 31% to 28%. The neutral and informative tone, in turn, maintained a rate of 46%.
On the national scene, the positive agenda was driven by pre-COP events, preparations for the event and implementation of infrastructure works, discussions that included indigenous peoples and the participation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the Asian Summit.
On the other hand, negative signals highlighted the drilling license granted by Ibama in Foz do Amazonas, signs of corruption in COP30, the possible water and energy crisis with the presence of data centers in Brazil and the slow progress in reducing polluting gases to limit the climate crisis.
