The last weeks of the year bring excitement to the visual arts circuit of the Federal District, with exhibitions occupying different parts of the city and revealing modern and classic productions by local and national artists.
The simultaneous presence of these exhibitions shows how Brasilia ended 2025 with spaces in full activity, some after long periods of downtime. This movement also creates an opportunity to visit exhibitions that often go unnoticed during the tightest calendar of the year.

1 – Sergio Camargo – E Pau, E Piedra…
Brasilia hosts the largest exhibition dedicated to Sergio Camargo in decades in the foyer of the Villa Lobos room, recently revitalized with the support of Capitals For Metropoles Catwalk reviews. The exhibition reconsiders the processes, materials and choices that characterized the artist’s path, and is a reference for the constructive side of the country. The proposal aims to present a wide range of his production to the public, highlighting the use of geometric shapes such as cylinders, cubes and rectangles.
The visitor will find a panorama that discusses the artist’s relationship between modernity and tradition, in addition to central aspects of his visual research.

2 – MEME: In Brazil from Memefication
The first exhibition dedicated to the world of memes in the country, the exhibition includes about 800 pieces from 200 creators. Curated by Clarissa Diniz and Ismael Monticelli, in partnership with @newmemeseum, the exhibition examines how memes narrate contemporary Brazil through humor and criticism.
The collection combines digital culture productions with works of contemporary art, and combines different languages. Names such as Anna Maria Maiolino, Greta Sarfatti, Nelson Lerner, Claudio Tosi, Bloguirinha, Porta dos Fundos, Melted Videos, John Drops and Gringo Dictionary are involved.

3 – Brasolejos – Ligia de Medeiros
The exhibition presents new works by Ligia de Medeiros in tiles and digital graphics, curated by Renata Azambuja. The collection brings together 23 court paintings and 18 print drawings, organized into groups that explore the human form, landscape, language, and Brazilian identity. The artist investigates the relationship between art, design and architecture, taking references from modernism and Cerrado forms.

4- A look at the city
Conic hosts the largest exhibition ever within the Am Olher Sobre Cidade project, strengthening the open gallery as a permanent space for art and urban memory. The exhibition celebrates artists from Brasilia and brings together four works by Lourenço de Bem, Paulo Araujo, Lorene Schinkel and Chico Oliveira, in dialogue with themes such as urban diversity, memory, mobility, feelings and the future.

5- Our Brazil
Featuring more than 70 works by 50 Brazilian artists, the exhibition presents a journey through the country’s artistic creativity over the course of a century, from modernism to the contemporary era. The exhibition, curated by Denise Matar and artistically directed by Rafael Dragod, includes works by artists Tarsila do Amaral and Alfredo Volpe.

6- Everyone talks about me, and no one represents me
The exhibition proposes a dialogue between the works of German artist Johan Moritz Rugendas and the contemporary production of Zelle Karabuto, offering an original reinterpretation of historical representations of indigenous peoples.
The exhibition, curated by Zel Carabuto and Nara Galvão, discusses the European perspective that characterized the construction of the national image.

7- The African languages that make up Brazil
The exhibition proposes to immerse oneself in the cultural and linguistic composition of Brazil, highlighting the influence of African languages and cultures in the construction of the Portuguese language used in the country. The exhibition is curated by Tijana Santana and implemented in partnership with the Museum of the Portuguese Language, and brings together works, projections and objects that highlight ancestral heritage.

8 – Roots – Visual Heritage
The exhibition presents around fifty recent works by José Maciel, combining drawings, paintings, cast-iron sculptures and scenographic objects. Curated by Danielle Athaide and Claudio Pereira, the exhibition offers a reflection on memory, identity and the multiple origins that shape individuals and nations. The artist reconsiders and creates personal and historical emotions and symbols

9 – 40 years of the Brazilian AIDS response
SESI Laboratory and the Ministry of Health inaugurate the exhibition celebrating four decades of the Brazilian response to HIV and AIDS. The exhibition revisits the public policies, social mobilization, scientific production, and documents that organized the fight against the disease in the country. The route collects life stories, works and historical records into four thematic collections.
The initiative highlights the role of the unified health system in expanding access to medicines, prevention and diagnosis, in addition to inviting the public to reflect on current challenges. The program includes
