
A 33-year-old drunk driver was arrested in the early hours of last Thursday (20/11) after causing a serious accident on Avenida Pacaembu, in Varzia Paulista, inside São Paulo. The man, who was driving his car in a completely drunk state, lost control of the car, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Surveillance camera footage showed the moment the drunk man’s car passed on the winding road, indicating that he completely lost control seconds before the accident. In the video, residents can be seen sticking their arms out the window and throwing liquids into the street.
According to the military police, when officers arrived at the scene, they found both drivers, but only the person who caused the accident showed signs of intoxication. An alcohol test confirmed: 0.44 mg/L of alcohol, a value that already constitutes a traffic offence. The other driver did not drink any alcohol.
The victims were seriously injured and were taken to the city’s emergency room. The case was registered at the Varzia Paulista Police Station as bodily injury while driving a car and driving under the influence of alcohol.
