A 24-year-old woman died after being hit by a car on Sunday morning (9/11), on Avenida Ede, north of São Paulo. The driver, also 24, fled the scene without rendering aid, but ended up being arrested red-handed, and apparently intoxicated, minutes later by military police.
Surveillance camera footage showed the moment the car in question was traveling at a high speed when it collided with the victim forcefully. The victim died at the scene before help arrived.
Based on the characteristics reported by witnesses, police located the vehicle and approached the driver shortly after the accident. According to agents, she showed obvious signs of intoxication, but refused to take a breathalyzer test.
