There is no information yet whether the film will be a live-action or animated film. The agreement closed this week, and at the moment, there are no definitions regarding the producers, directors or actors involved, but Sony’s intention will be, according to the magazine, to develop a feature film with the potential to become a franchise.
Created by Hong Kong-born, European-based artist Kasing Lung, Labobo was a collection of monstrous characters, and took off when Chinese retailer PopMart acquired its manufacture and sale in 2019.
The Chinese company saw its profits increase fivefold in the first half of this year, thanks to the success of “Little Monsters,” with revenues reaching 13.88 billion yuan (about 10.5 billion Brazilian reals). It was a jump of 204% compared to the same period last year. The company’s profits increased five-fold, jumping by 400% to 4.57 billion yuan (3.46 billion Brazilian reals).
