A 51-year-old man died on Monday after being stabbed by his brother in Ponferrada (León, 63,000 inhabitants). The assailant was arrested by members of the National Police and is awaiting a judicial decision. The victim of fratricide suffered serious injuries from which he was unable to recover after being admitted to Lyon Hospital due to damage caused by what is being investigated as a family quarrel in the home they shared.
The government’s sub-delegation reported that after the knife attack, the deceased’s brother tried to bandage the wound and asked for help from the neighbors, who in turn called 112, although the arrival of the ambulance and medical workers did not mean that the victim’s life could ultimately be saved.
The 112 emergency service of Castile and Leon reported that at 7:57 p.m. Last Sunday, she received a phone call alerting her to what had happened at the family home where they both live, on Francis Street in the Quattroventus neighborhood of Persia. Initial information indicates that the attacker stabbed his brother with a knife, causing him to lose some blood. He was helped by the attacker himself, who tried to bandage the wound and asked for help from the neighbors, who notified the ambulance. Emergency service paramedics gave him first attention while National Police officers proceeded to arrest the suspect and transport him to the Ponferrada Police Station.
The injured man’s injuries were so serious that he had to be taken to Lyon Hospital to try to save his life, although after several hours of medical care he ended up dead on Monday afternoon. The police are investigating the causes of the fratricide while the accused is still in custody.
