A potential replacement for Abalos if she resigns from Congress, following her 2021 conviction on a drunken driving charge

Socialist Ana María Gonzalo Herdaro, who was convicted in 2021 for drunk driving, would be the person who could replace José Luis Albalos in the seat if he resigns. This is unlikely, knowing that the former minister did not resign when The PSOE has called for this, but it is possible.

González Herdaro is Mayor of Lori (Valencia) and reconfirms the mayorship in 2023 after eight years as the first mayor. In 2021, after she was found driving with a blood alcohol level of more than 0.6 milligrams, she was fined €960 and had her driving license revoked for eight months. Then his training opened a media profile for him.

Abalos is unlikely to leave the seat. He did not do so a year ago when the Socialist Workers Party demanded his resignation after information implicating him in the Koldo case, and it does not appear that he will do so now after entering the Soto del Real prison. From now on, his seat is suspended, he will not be able to vote and will not receive his salary. Despite the suspension of Ábalos’ seat, the majority in the House of Representatives will remain at 176 seats, which may further complicate the government’s vote due to the loss of the former Socialist minister’s usual vote.

As EP reported in 2024, in the event that González does not take the minutes, next on the list is Quarte de Bublé councilor and former regional deputy Bartolomé Novuentes. He will be the second representative in this legislative body to come from this municipality, since the election of former Mayor Carmen Martinez number three in Valencia.

The PSPV-PSOE party gained five deputies from the province of Valencia in the July 2023 elections, one more than it had in the previous legislature. The list was already ready when Minister Diana Morant left the minutes of the meeting, and the Socialist Youth leader, Victor Camino, took his place.
