The events occurred around 5:15 a.m. on a farm where a birthday party was being held. According to investigative sources, the Civil Guard received a call alerting that a man had violated a restraining order and attacked the woman.
When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground, bleeding profusely, with the help of two men who were at the party and who were trying to cover the wounds with a piece of clothing. The guards immediately called for medical assistance when they realized the seriousness of the injuries.
Five deadly minutes
Several partygoers explained that the victim had commented minutes earlier that he needed to go out. Shortly after, they heard a car horn and called for help. When they came out, they saw the attacker stabbing her repeatedly with a knife. Some friends rushed to her aid, at which point the attacker began to self-harm and jumped over the wall of the property. Witnesses believe he died after falling to the other side.
Paramedics arrived at the scene around 5:40 a.m. and treated the victim and assailant. The woman was taken to Son Espases, where she underwent surgery and remains in the intensive care unit with very serious injuries. The detainee was transferred to Inca Hospital in light condition.
Institutional condemnation
Head of Government, Marga Bruhinz, “absolutely” condemned this new case of sexual violence and emphasized that all IBDona services are activated and available to the victim and her environment.
