A 56-year-old worker who was carrying out reconstruction work following damage to the casinos (Valencia) died after becoming trapped between two machines while apparently performing machine movements once the assigned work was completed.
As sources from the Ministry of the Environment and the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) confirmed to EFE, the incident occurred on Friday morning in the Casinos municipality.
The deceased was an employee of a company subcontracting to TRAGSA, which is carrying out the reconstruction work after the damages of October 29, 2024 for various departments.
In the case of the general mandate, this company is mandated to rehabilitate roads within the framework of fire prevention infrastructure restoration measures.
The same sources explained that the accident apparently occurred while performing machine movements after completing the specified tasks, while the intensive care unit added that the worker was trapped between two machines.
Medical services sent to the scene were only able to confirm the death of the 56-year-old man.
The Labor Inspectorate and the Civil Guard attended the scene, and an investigation was opened to clarify the facts.
In the case of the Civil Guard, the technical team of the Judicial Police of Leiria was responsible for the investigation, sources from this security body told EFE.
