Action mobilizes staff and residents to boost blood supply on National Donation Day

To mark National Blood Donation Day, celebrated on November 25, the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti) and the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio (Faperj) are implementing the “Donate Life” campaign, a mobilization that calls on employees, students, partners and residents to participate in a gesture of solidarity that can save lives. The match will be held on Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the University Hospital Pedro Ernesto (HUPE).

The goal is to strengthen blood stocks and raise awareness about the importance of voluntary donation – one bag of blood can benefit up to four people. The campaign also has the support of the Public Archives of the State of Rio de Janeiro (APERJ), the Foundation for the Support of Technical Schools (Faetec) and other institutions linked to the sect.

For the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Anderson Moraes, this history is a reminder of the importance of collective participation:

Science changes, but above all it saves lives. We invite everyone to join this chain of goodness. Donating blood is a simple, quick and necessary gesture. “Let us, with attitude and compassion, make a difference for those who need it most,” he said.

Pedro Ernesto University Hospital is located at Avenida 28 de Setembro, 157, in Vila Isabel, the northern district of Rio.
