Barcelona President Ada Colao has stated that she has no intention of re-presenting herself as a candidate for any kind of election in a context in which her formation, Barcelona en Como, will begin its primary process soon. In statements by L La Vanguardia“I have no intention of presenting myself for the primaries or the next elections; for municipalities, for state governments, and for no one else,” Colao said.
Recently, Barcelona en Comú revised its Code of Ethics to limit the terms of its public office to two years. Before mentioning the legislative councils, they can be extended to three.
Colao, who had often been years in the Consistorio – ocho like the caldesa and often in opposition – could, therefore, choose to remain in the Ayuntamiento or even more for another year, due to the exceptions contemplating the new text.
The party will, as expected from the beginning of 2027, hold primaries to choose a tandem electoral system in which at least one woman must be present.
The one who has publicly expressed his willingness to run in these primaries is Roberto Enríquez Higueras, known as Bob Bob, and the other name he dreamed of is the first secretary of the congressional office, Gerardo Pisarello, who was part of the Barcelona municipal government between 2015 and 2019.
