The confrontation between Pilar Smith and Daniel Gomez Rinaldi added a new chapter, after the flight attendant accused him of “insulting” her and confirmed that he had sent her a documentary letter, and the journalist spoke publicly and apologized.
But he also kept part of his statements and made it clear that the conflict is not over yet. In her book “Intruders”, Pilar Smith stated that she was quite disturbed by Gómez Rinaldi’s expressions, which appeared after his comments about Martín Fierro’s Latinos.
The host stated that she had always had a good relationship with him, that her criticisms were purely television and that Rinaldi’s statements crossed personal and professional boundaries. For this reason, he confirmed that he decided, together with his lawyer, to send a written document: “This cannot be allowed. No one talks about anyone’s body. Neither mine nor anyone else’s.”
Pilar also apologized to Danny Ambrosino for a previous incident, distinguishing what she saw as television humor from the episode that led to the complaint. Hours later, in the midst of the repercussions, Daniel Gomez Rinaldi spoke to the camera and pointed directly to the topic. The first thing he did was admit his mistake: “I apologize to Pilar. I am not saying this phrase ‘if you are offended’. No. I am apologizing because I was wrong.”
He admitted that he was very angry at the criticism Smith made regarding the broadcast of Martín Fierro Latino, a concert in which he participated as part of APTRA: “The criticisms bothered me a lot. That same night I felt angry, and the next day too.”
The journalist explained that he felt that Pilar only highlighted the negative and did not appreciate the work behind the event. However, he freely admitted that his reaction was disproportionate: “I was wrong, I was wrong.” Finally, when they asked her if she wanted to talk about it personally, she deflected commitment: “I haven’t written to her. I don’t know if I will. Pilar is very extreme on this issue.”
