The digital influencer and funk singer are parents to 9-month-old Ras and have been separated since July
Lorena Maria is the mother of 9-month-old Ras, the result of her relationship with MC Daniel, which ended in July of this year. Now single, the digital influencer says she doesn’t consider herself a single mother thanks to the support she receives from her family, but she doesn’t mention her ex-husband’s name when talking about who helps her.
“I am not a single mother because I have the support of my family, my friends and my wonderful nanny and I am very happy with my life. Saying that I am a single mother has a little weight because many women in Brazil live this reality, which I do not,” says Lorena in an interview with land During the Potencias Award ceremony held in São Paulo.
Recently, Lorena and Daniel became embroiled in a public fight over their son’s living costs and the amount the singer pays in child support. In a statement posted on social media, the singer stated that he pays a pension of R$ 38,000 and pays for the health plan and the salaries of the employees who take care of Ras.
Lorena responded by saying that R$38,000 is the rent for the house she lives in with her son, which Daniel rented when they were still a couple and from which she cannot move out until the end of the contract, in February 2026. She also stated that Daniel only started paying the nanny’s salary after she asked for it.
The digital influencer stated that the funk singer did not want to pay for a private driver and a security guard for his son and stated that they would resolve these issues in court.
MC Daniel has not commented yet on his ex-girlfriend’s recent statements, but in a recent interview with landHe stated that he works to provide a good quality of life for Ras. The artist said: “Praise be to God, he was born in a private hospital. He is not lacking in anything. He is not lacking in the basics, and you can still help with more, with lessons, with clothes, with food, with housing, with everything.”
Amid the public spat with the funk singer, Lorena says she would do anything for her son. “I will endure anything for him, and I will endure anything for my son.”
Born and raised in a community in Rio de Janeiro, the digital influencer aims to educate her son about bias situations he may encounter throughout his life.
“Educate well to know how to handle certain situations and even know how to stand up for your mother. I have to be a good role model. Our children look at us as a mirror and they end up being inspired by us and creating their own character and personality through what they see as children. I am a very amazing woman and I believe my son will be an amazing man.”
Awareness starts with the name she chose for the boy. The head is inspired by former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I, also known as Ras Tafari, who is worshiped by followers of the Rastafarian movement, who see him as the embodiment of God who will liberate black people.
“It’s a very powerful and very special name, which means a lot to me. Giving someone a name is a very serious thing. A name puts you on a high, makes you strong and faces all things. This is what I have for myself,” Lorena concluded.
