National Electric Energy Agency (Anil) It was reported today, Friday (28), that it will be activated Yellow flag In December, due to expectations of more favorable conditions for power generation, after the rains begin. Therefore, The surcharge on electricity bills next month will be lower, at R$1,885 per 100 kilowatt-hours consumed.
In October and November, Red Flag 1 was valid, with a charge of R$4.46 per 100 kWh, due to Unfavorable rainfall scenario and low reservoir levels. In August and September, Red Flag 2 was implemented, imposing a charge of R$7.87 per 100 kWh.
The regulatory body said in a memorandum that with the arrival of the rainy season, rain forecasts for December are higher than the rains that occurred in November, in most parts of the country.
“However, rainfall forecasts are generally below their historical average for this month of the year. Due to slightly more favorable power generation conditions, a change from Red Flag Level 1 to Yellow Level was possible. Therefore, revitalization of thermal power plants remains necessary to meet demand,” Anil said in a note.
The regulatory body also explained that solar energy generation is intermittent and does not provide energy continuously, especially at night and during times of highest consumption.
