The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEL) announced today, Friday (28/11), that the yellow flag will be applied to electricity bills for the month of December. As a result, there will be an additional cost of R$1.88 per 100 kWh consumed, which is different from what happened in the previous six months, in which the tariff red flag level was 1, an increase of R$4.46.
The yellow flag was lowered, according to the agency, due to the arrival of the rainy season in the country. He said in a statement, “The rainfall forecast for December is higher than the rainfall that occurred in November, in most parts of the country. However, the rainfall forecast in general is lower than its historical average for this month of the year.”

Energy: The Union used R$5 billion in tariffs to contain the increase
Tariff flags were created in 2015. They serve to indicate the true cost of energy and translate these costs to the end consumer.
A green flag is one that exempts the consumer from any additional fees. If the yellow flag applies, for every 100 kWh consumed there is an increase of R$ 1.88. Levels 1 and 2 of the red flag result in additional charges, per 100 kWh consumed, of R$4.46 and R$7.87 respectively.
