
Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira (Calix) took pole position on Saturday in the Moto2 category during the Portuguese Grand Prix, the 21st and penultimate round of the MotoGP World Championship, while his Spanish title rival Manuel Gonzalez (Calix) will start from eighth on the grid.
At the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Moreira set the leading time in Q2 with a time of 1:41.168 compared to the 1:41.185 of Englishman Jake Dixon (Boscoscoro). The best Spaniards in this order were Aron Canet (Calix/5th, 1:41.355), Daniel Holgado (Calix/6th, 1:41.404), Daniel Muñoz (Calix/7th, 1:41.441) and the aforementioned Manu Gonzalez (8th, 1:41.499).
For his part, in the Moto 3 category, the fastest in the second section on the Portimão asphalt was Australian Joel Kelso (KTM), who achieved his best time of 1:46.764, which earned him “first place” ahead of Englishman Scott Ogden (KTM/second, 1:46.833) and Spaniard Angel Pequeras (KTM/third, 1:46.927).
