On the occasion of the anniversary of the proclamation of the Temple of the Brotherhood of Macarena as a minor cathedral of Macarena, candidate for the Big Brother, Fernando Fernández Cabezuelo presented an ambitious project focused on preserving, improving and enhancing a plant. … One of the most symbolic places of dedication is Seville.
the plan It is part of the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the dedication of the temple. It was celebrated on October 7, 1965, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, and was declared a Minor Church by His Holiness Pope Paul VI, on November 12, 1966.
This event made the Macarena Temple the first temple in Seville to receive this high distinction, thus fulfilling the desire that the brotherhood had had since 1910: Providing the Virgin with a “home” that brings together the love and devotion of an entire people.
Inspired by the words of the architect Aurelio Gomez Milan, author of the original project – “to give the great Lady a temple which, if it has never been worthy of her, will unite the zeal, faith and zeal of those who hope in her” -, Fernandez Cabezuelo proposes a series of actions that seek to preserve and enhance the received heritage, ensuring the future of the church with a respectable and sustainable vision.
Among the main lines of work are:
-Keep ownersThis is done by reviewing and updating the fire-fighting system in the dressing rooms, ensuring maximum protection for the images.
–A technical report on the structural condition of the basilica and its roofsThis ensures the preservation of the assets in the temple.
-Restoring historical lamps It was removed during the 1992 World’s Fair, restoring the original solemnity and splendor of the interior.
– Improve artistic lighting, To improve efficiency, enhance architecture and encourage worship and visitation.
–The artistic pinnacle of the Holy ChurchWith a comprehensive project that completes its aesthetic and devotional composition.
–Report and possibility of restoration of the Virgin of Guadalupe painting (Joseph Motta, 1709), symbol of twinning with the Mexican Cathedral of Tepeyac.
–Technical Report and the Restoration of Christ of Salvation, The work of Luis Ortega Pro.
In the words of the candidate himself:The proposed actions respond to the firm commitment of all Macarinos to the preservation and future of our Church. “We want to ensure that this temple, which is the heart and symbol of Seville, will remain a reference of faith, art and hope for generations to come.”
