SPTuris said on Monday (11/17) that it is not considering moving the carnival blocks from the Pinheiros area and Vila Madalena, in São Paulo, to Marginal Pinheiros, at the request of the Military Police (PM). The reaction comes after the article revealed, on Sunday (11/16), that the request had been referred to the committee that organizes the street carnival in the city of São Paulo.
“The current operation (of the carnival) has been successfully implemented over the past few years, without the need to include marginal routes, and routes that focus on high traffic flow,” SPTuris said, in a memo, rejecting the police request.
“It should be noted that no major changes to the routes of Carnival Street 2026 are planned. It should also be noted that the use of roadside routes was not a topic of discussion within the scope of this committee, and was not taken into account at any stage of the planning,” the municipal tourism company continued.

The ban on blocks on Avenida Faria Lima and Rua Henrique Schuman and the creation of a platform for parades on the local Marginal Pinheiros track were requested by the 23rd Battalion of the Military Police of São Paulo, in charge of the area, in a letter initially sent to Councilor Sergeant Nantes (PP), and from there, to the Chairman of the Carnival Organizing Committee, Secretary of the Government Edson Aparecido. The document was received by Aparecido on November 6.
On Friday (11/14), the column questioned City Hall’s communications department about the Prime Minister’s request, asking if “City Council is considering moving the carnival blocks to the waterfront.” In response, SPTuris only said that the committee is “in the process of evaluating, analyzing and validating the authenticity of the registered block paths.”
