Cartola, whose first name was Agenor – a recording error occurred – was born on October 11, 1908 and was responsible for such MPB classics as “As Rosas não Falam” and “O Mundo é Um Moinho.”
Why did Cartola, from Manguera, get this title?
The body of the founder of Mangera was buried in the school grounds in the northern district, and three thousand people were taken to the Kajo cemetery, not far away, for his burial. The funeral procession in turn included approximately 70 cars and Combi was responsible for carrying flower crowns for the artist only.
