The reunion of Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania has transcended time and the boundaries of Brazilian music – and now resonates on the international stage. Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo, a record of the joint tour that brought the brothers together after 46 years, was nominated for a 2026 Grammy Award in the Best World Music Album category, reinforcing the symbolic and emotional power of the project.
Released in the first half of 2025, the album captures the essence of one of the most emblematic tours of recent decades. Recorded at packed shows in Brazil and Lisbon, the album commemorates the reunion between two artists whose relationship is both familiar and mysterious. On stage, Cayetano and Bethania revisited the songs that have defined their careers – from Coração Vagabundo to Explode Coração – among gestures of affection, humor and complicity.
The brothers are competing for the award with names such as Burna Boy, Anushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia, Youssou Ndour and the Indian group Shakti, which promotes the global reach of contemporary Brazilian music. The trophy ceremony will take place in February 2026 in Los Angeles, and should bring together some of today’s most influential artists.
The nomination was celebrated on social media by fans and fellow professionals. For many, recognition comes as a natural consequence of a trajectory that has shaped Brazilian culture for decades.

Caetano Veloso promises a historic show at the Estilo Brasil Festival
In addition to the symbolism of the family, Caetano and Bethania Ao Vivo reaffirm the importance of artists who continue to reinvent themselves. Caetano, 82, maintains the restless and experimental look of someone who has never stopped questioning art forms. Bethania, with her captivating presence, remains the ultimate interpreter of Brazilian emotions – mysterious, elegant and profound. The mixture of rhythms, accents and emotions that the Bahian brothers brought to the stage reaffirms the vitality of Brazilian music in a scenario dominated by English-speaking trends.
Caetano is now preparing for another big moment: the show he will perform at the Estilo Brasil Festival, on December 11, at the Ulysses Centro de Convenções, in Brasilia. It will be a night that promises to repeat the magic that led him to the Grammy Awards — a tribute to beauty, memory, and the eternal search for new songs.
