Last week, I was kidnapped by the IBGE website Nomes no Brasil.
For those who didn’t live up to the hype: the guys launched a platform, with data collected from the last census, where you can search for the most common names for Brazilians – and the most unusual ones, too.
After playing with the names of relatives and friends, came the really fun part: throwing random words into the search field to see what comes up.
There are 43 Brazilians named Nomi; The surname for 1,726 people is the surname.
In the case of another 3,734 citizens, their parents decided to call them simply “Son”, with the infection rate particularly high in Roraima. In the same state, the number of women called “daughter” is also high – 2,747 individuals in the national territory, with an average age of six years.
The platform also highlights mistakes made by employees or parents of people with strange names.
There are 1,132 young people, born in 2000, who have the first name “Fovia” on their identity cards. The question remains: Did the mother ask the father to register the child as “Sophia with the pH”?
But let’s get to what matters most in this column. There are a lot of people whose names (and mainly surnames) are associated with food in Brazil.
You could bring these people together for, say, a nice barbecue – in fact, there are 24 people from São Paulo with the surname Choras. The Picana family has 32 members, while the Farofa family has 135 gauchos. To accompany 175 servos distributed between RS, SP and RJ.
Something similar happens with the surname Pizza (948 people). On the list are 62 women named Margherita and the families of Calabresa (84), Atom (37), Napoletana (26), Tuscany (587) and even Brigadero (131).
Ditto for Pf titles (25): Rice (33), Beans (3,928), French Fries (1,490), Salad (59) and the Mix (1,144) which could be Steak (511), Chicken (495) or Fish (3,831).
Such as (last name, 154) no (first name, 2114) like (last name, 58) dar (last name, 225) dot (last name, 642) no (last name unisex, 226) knot (first name, 26) All ingredients in the recipe that accompany this column (last name, 279) have the last name in the census (first name, 62).
If you can’t find Olivet, search for the synonym Oliva (11,881 people).
