China has lifted the ban on the export of semiconductors manufactured by Nexperia, as confirmed by the German company Aumovio SE, a supplier of components for the automotive industry. The decision represents an important development in the international conflict over the Chinese-owned Dutch chip producer.
he … Aumovio CEO Philipp von Hirschdt explained that the company has resumed shipments of Nexperia chips and components after obtaining an export license from Beijing authorities this week. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce officially lifted the restrictions on Friday.
The lifting of this measure coincides with moves by the Dutch government, which, according to Bloomberg, would be willing to suspend its intervention in Nexperia after assuming control of the company last month.
Omovio, which was recently separated from Continental AG, makes sensors, brakes and automated driving systems, and has more than a dozen factories in China. Its clients include manufacturers such as BMW, Volkswagen and Stellantis.
The company transports the chips from China to Hungary for later distribution to its European production network. However, von Hirschdt warned that “it will take some time for all procedures to return to normal” and that the disruptions could continue over the next four to six weeks. However, he stated that if the situation remains stable, “operations are not expected to be affected.”
