November is the month in which intercollegiate disputes enter the final stage and also the crucial period for mutual solidarity. This action – one of the most traditional competitions organized by the newspaper O GLOBO, presented by Sesc-RJ and supported by Caixa – reinforces the social nature of the tournament and seeks to involve students, teachers and families in the food collection chain throughout the state of Rio. The project is a partnership with Mesa Brasil Sesc, a national program working to combat hunger and food waste.

Donations can be made until the 21st, and donations will be collected at participating schools between the 24th and 27th, also this month. After collection, all items will be transported to Mesa Brasil headquarters, where they will undergo sorting and weighing. The final result will be announced on November 28 at 6pm on O GLOBO’s social networks.
Prizes will be awarded to the three schools that collect the most food and will also score points in the overall tally among the colleges. In addition, each person will receive a prize in improvements aimed at improving their sports facilities or purchasing materials: first place will win improvements worth R $ 5,000; As for the second, there will be improvements worth R $ 3,000; The third is 2 thousand Brazilian reals. Improvements will be determined in collaboration with the school and event organizers and cannot be exchanged for money. In other words, the prize value must be fully invested.
According to the regulations, only schools registered with Intercollegial can participate in the initiative, by filling out the specific form found on the official website of the competition.

The campaign dynamics are free: each school can create its own food collection strategies. In the calculation, not only the amount collected will be taken into account, but also the balance of donated items, a criterion that was clarified during the inaugural intercollegiate conference, held in May.
According to Intercollegial Coordinator Diego Souza, last year the campaign collected more than nine tons of food, which was donated to the Mesa Brasil Sesc programme, “contributing to enabling thousands of people to receive this support with affection and dignity.” For him, it’s proof that the intercollegiate movement isn’t just about athletic disputes: it’s a citizen movement, capable of inspiring positions that make a difference on and off the field.
— Intercollegiate solidarity is one of the most special methods between faculties, because it bypasses the courts. This action mobilizes students, teachers and the entire school community around solidarity, promoting food collection for families in vulnerable situations. I proudly highlight the participation of students who embrace the initiative with enthusiasm and compassion. They realize that sport is also a way to transform lives, not just through competition, but through the initiative of joining forces for the common good.
Donations will be counted on the 28th, between 10 am and 4 pm, at the Mesa Brasil headquarters, in the presence of representatives of Sesc, GLOBO and the production company Abadai. The event, which will witness the official award ceremony for the winners, will be held on 5 December, concluding the 2025 Intercollegiate Activities Calendar with a symbolic gesture of cooperation and solidarity.
