An electrical fault that occurred on Friday (28) kept trains on the 11-corral line of CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) and Expresso Aeroporto, in São Paulo, in partial operation.
Trains do not run between Luz and Barra Funda, and passengers must change using Line 10-Terquoise on the extension.
When contacted, the company confirmed that the power system had malfunctioned at the Palmeiras-Barra Funda station, but did not provide a timetable for operations to return to normal.
“Technicians worked through the night and are continuing to work to restore operation to normal and CPTM apologizes for the inconvenience caused to passengers.”
The problem comes days after another failure on line 11-Coral, last Tuesday (25), involving the pantograph – a device that collects energy from train tracks – of a train, which became entangled in the overhead network at the Corinthians-Itaqueira station.
The problem was not resolved until the next day, causing inconvenience to passengers as trains ran at low speeds with longer stopping periods.
