Danilo Luiz, the scorer of the goal that secured Flamengo’s fourth Copa Libertadores title, left the pitch at the Estadio Monumental “U” in Lima, Peru, emotional. The player, who achieved two wins in the competition, revealed that he faced difficult hours before the final match and dedicated the victory to his family.

“Today is a special day, because yesterday my father was coming with my mother and brothers to the match and his sister, my aunt, died, and he had to come back,” the shaken player told Globo TV.

Despite his sadness, Danilo entered the field and scored Flamengo’s winning goal. “I wanted to dedicate this victory to my entire family, but also to him in particular,” he said.

The athlete also spoke about his own journey to the top of South America, noting that he had no idea he would make it this far or how many challenges he would face. “Everyone has their own sacrifices that no one sees,” he said.
