The rapporteur of the anti-factionalism bill (PL), Guilherme Dirret (PP-SP), must seek the party benches to conclude a consensus text this Tuesday (11/11), with a view to a vote on the merits on Wednesday (12/11). Without an agreement, Motta removed the PL Antifaction vote from the agenda.
The licensed Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo will hold a round of talks on Tuesday afternoon. Initially, the parliamentarian will meet with the President of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicans), at the official residence. After that, he will talk to the leaders, hoping to complete the project.
The government rejected this matter. There was no agreement on two points: reducing the independence of the federal police and including new measures, such as increasing penalties, in the anti-terrorism law, instead of the anti-faction law.
On Monday (10/11), Corporate Relations Minister Glessi Hoffmann said that the changes made by the rapporteur “take the federal police out of the fight against organized crime.”
After speaking with the Director General of the institution, Andre Rodriguez, Mota agreed with the rapporteur to withdraw the point, and confirmed that the National Police would continue its duties. Derrett maintained the company’s jurisdiction, but decided that it must always report operations to the appropriate state authorities.
See how the snippet turned out:
“Federal Police actions may include investigative, technical, operational or information support, and will occur:
- Upon a reasoned request from the state police chief or the competent state prosecutor’s office;
- On its own initiative, with communication with the competent authorities in the state.”
