The principal of a public school in Botucatu, inside São Paulo, was removed from her position after a camera was found inside one of the unit’s bathrooms.
This case occurred on Wednesday (12), when a team from the Municipal Civil Guard was called after a complaint from the students’ parents. At the scene, agents confirmed the presence of the camera.
According to the state Department of Education, run by Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), the camera found at Francisco Guidelha Public School was not working and had already been removed from the site.
The department said it had opened a preliminary investigation, which is being monitored by a supervisor from the Botukatu Regional Education Unit.
“Seduc-SP confirms that installing cameras in bathrooms is not part of management guidelines under any circumstances,” it said in a memo.
