Federal MP Guilherme Dirit (PL-SP) cried when he spoke about the police officers killed in the massive operation in Rio de Janeiro communities last month. Congress held an official session in honor of the security forces in Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday (12/11). See Derit’s post:
During his speech, the parliamentarian made the following statement: “It has been eighteen years of active service in the military police, and the most difficult moment, Colonel, is seeing you hand the national flag to a family member. For many, it is a piece of cloth, and people do not know how important it is to hand the flag to a ten-year-old girl. I know that.” The speech was followed by applause.
Dirit also spoke about Antifaction PL, of which he is rapporteur, and criticized the Federal Police (PF). “The Brazilian state cannot accept the proposal that comes to this Congress to reduce sentences for criminals. All that remains is the narrative of the glorious federal police, Minister Victor, to which you belong. I do not like to say that you belong; you will always be a federal police officer. This narrative is weak, because they cannot discuss terrorism with me, because our project is difficult.”
The session was attended by family members of police officers killed in police action, authorities and parliamentarians. The Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), was also present on this occasion.

The huge operation took place at the end of last month, in the Benha and Alemão complexes in Rio de Janeiro. This operation is considered the bloodiest in the history of Rio de Janeiro, as police actions left more than 100 dead, at least 12 injured, and arrested more than 100 people.
