At Carnival in 2020, before the pandemic began, publicist Fernanda Lucena, 32, went looking for a yellow fanny pack to match her banana costume. He found a model, but it was too small, and wouldn’t fit his cell phone. “After this problem, I thought about creating a brand of colorful bags to be used all year round, not just during carnival,” says the Niteroi native.
A year later, Fernanda launched Xet’s (the name comes from the fanny pack), which expanded the product catalog to include T-shirts and hats printed with humorous sayings, with a new collection launching on Monday. Aesthetics are the face of Rio’s summer, according to researcher and fashion analyst Paola Acioli. “The brand name and its products reflect well the irreverent and playful spirit of people who dress like a Rio,” he comments.
Fernanda single-handedly runs the brand, which has already won over names such as Lázaro Ramos and influencer Samanta Alves. “I serve customers, design products, find suppliers, and place orders.”
