The doctor’s indictment was formalized on Monday (24/11) by the First Police District, which concluded the investigation into the case.
According to Delegate Jessica Muniz Abrantes, who is in charge of the case, the investigation requires expertise, interviews and analysis of medical records.
She explained that, contrary to what was reported at the time of death, there was no evidence of pregnancy or miscarriage, which are hypotheses that laboratory tests and technical reports ruled out.
Experts concluded that the victim had suffered a serious pelvic infection, genital necrosis and septic shock.
When news of the death began to spread, the doctor, in turn, spoke on social media, stressing that Gianna’s death “had nothing to do with the medical care provided,” claiming that he had provided all necessary assistance.

Inspection inside the office
After the defender’s death, Mayara’s office was subjected to a health inspection that was conducted on March 28, with the participation of municipal and state health surveillance.
A visit report was necessary for indictment. As the Civil Police indicated, during the visit, serious failures in the sterilization process were discovered, in addition to the use of reused materials circulated by people who do not have technical qualifications.
Also according to the representative, even after the patient returned to the clinic in weak condition and with fluid in the abdomen, there was no formal referral to emergency care at the hospital.
Based on the evidence, the Civil Police concluded that there was negligence and misconduct in the service provided.
The indictment for manslaughter has been sent to the Roraima Public Prosecution Office, which will continue investigations.
