On Thursday (11/27/2025), United States President Donald Trump described a female reporter as “stupid,” adding another insult to the list of grievances he directs against female journalists when he disagrees with questions.
“Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?” The Republican mogul said as he interrupted the speaker during a press session at his Florida residence that focused on background checks on Afghans in the United States.
Two National Guard soldiers were shot dead near the White House on Wednesday, and authorities linked the attacker to an Afghan citizen who arrived in the country after the sudden withdrawal of US forces from that country in 2021.
The journalist asked Trump why he was blaming his predecessor, Joe Biden, while some members of his administration said that the resettled Afghans underwent a comprehensive background check process.
Coarse language
“Because they let them in,” Trump responded, showing a photo of a US military plane full of people fleeing as the Taliban regained power.
They came “with thousands of other people who shouldn’t be here, and you’re just asking questions because you’re a stupid person,” Trump said.
Insults and harsh language are a feature of the Trump era, but the US leader appears to retain a particular misogyny in the press.
On Wednesday, the president criticized a New York Times report that focused on his age and increasing signs of fatigue, describing the article’s author as “ugly.”
Earlier this month, he called one female journalist a “little pig” and told another she was a “terrible person.”
