She was 15 minutes late when the high-seas surf show, which opened the visual show led by Dua Lipa, appeared on the screens of Morombes Stadium in the western region of São Paulo. After the photos, it didn’t take long for the 30-year-old Albanian ango to appear on a raised platform armed with her hit song “Training Season”, the result of the album that gave its name to the previously unreleased “Radical Optimism” tour in Brazil.
From there, Dua moved into “End of An Era,” also from the same album, released last year, which she said had a lot of Britpop influence (but also featured generous layers of pop and disco). In the performance, which lasted nearly two hours, the singer’s originals transcended her repertoire full of hits, such as “Break My Heart,” “One Kiss” (released with Calvin Harris) and “Levitating,” and also included six beautiful designer costume changes and cutting-edge scenography (with elevators, pyrotechnics and flames).
Throughout the performance on the grounds of São Paulo, the singer seemed interested in charming the Brazilian audience, and therefore, at the moment of the show, when she usually sings original songs from each country she visits, Carlinhos invited Brown and Caetano Veloso (shortly after, by surprise), to share the vocals of the song “Magalenha”, created by Brown, in which Dua showed that she was up to date with her Portuguese language. Soon after, he moved on to “Margarida Perfumada,” written by Timbalada, with impressive fluency. Before that, he gave a short speech to the audience.
– Thank you so much for being here, and for all your support since day one – she said in well-spoken Portuguese.
Before that, the singer had already given her sympathy dose by reaching out to fans in the audience and asking their names, in addition to distributing selfies. One fan, Fernanda, could barely interact with Dua Lipa, and she was so nervous. Another, named Felipe, said the singer had made her first international trip, to Argentina, in recent weeks, specifically to see the same tour. She responded to Doaa with hugs and photos. She would often return to the crowded fan network to hand out declarations of love.
But on stage, Dua Lipa left her tenderness aside and took a more provocative stance between the faces, mouths and dances, making her float between the bodies of a team that includes dozens of dancers. In this context, she also showed that she can continue on the show, with backing vocals, but she still sings a lot live. So it was worth it, the version of “Falling Forever,” in which she appears alone on stage to walk through the necessary vocal extensions in the chorus.
The audience interacted with her, and Dua was immediately answered with the phrase “Anything for Love,” when she asked everyone to turn on their mobile phone lights. At this time, the organized fans have included an additional offer: they have previously distributed small strips of plastic (green, yellow and blue) to a large number of people from the audience, so that they can use the flashlights of their mobile phones. The small transparent straps were able to make each device sparkle in the colors of the Brazilian flag, much to the singer’s amazement.

The song “Be the One,” which helped Doaa achieve international stardom eight years ago, was also a huge asset to the audience. After memorizing the words, the audience followed the artist perfectly throughout the chorus. According to the singer, this is the song she sings every time she goes on stage and she says she hopes to sing it all her life.
After so many emotions, all that was missing was the song “Don’t Start Now”, from the album “Future Nostalgia”, which had not erased its disco and dance feeling due to the difficult time of the pandemic in which it reached the audience, still in 2020. The grand finale was the latest song “Houdini”, which is very electronic. The sign of the supplication disappearing in a rain of torn paper and smoke, as if by magic.
