“I deeply regret the passing of Ekel Meyer. We share years of work for justice: First at Jujuy Security and until his last day at the Regional High Court. Ekel was the key to ending the Milagro Sala empire. Resolute, courageous, and committed to the truth,” Bullrich wrote in X.
Mayer arrived at the highest court in December 2020, where he served as a member, and over the past two years he served as president of the body. Before he reached the top of the judicial authority in the governorateHe served as Minister of Security During the administration of Governor Gerardo Morales.
Before that, he also held a seat as a regional deputy in the Jujuy legislature and was city councilor of San Salvador de Jujuy in the 2000s.

In addition to his extensive career, Mayer remains known for his role in technological innovation for the District’s judiciary. During his presidency of the Supreme Court, he integrated training in artificial intelligence, created the Institute for Technological Innovation and encouraged the digitalization of judicial processes.
He also encouraged the implementation of jury trials, in cooperation with British specialists, and emphasized public morality, institutional responsibility and the full validity of the provincial constitution.
He was previously a member of the Deliberative Council of the City of San Salvador de Jujuy, where he promoted urban improvement projects and actively participated in local political life.
Its last recorded activity, according to the website of the Gogoi Judicial Authority, was the inauguration of a new office for hearing and protection from grooming and bullying, on September 18 of this year.
When Mayer was confirmed as President of the Regional Court to continue his term through 2025, Sergio Marcelo Geneves was appointed as substitute judge, in the absence of the highest authority of the Supreme Court. but, Geneves died in September of the same year.
The Gogoi bench reported that the deputy chief justice died on September 23, at the age of 76, after 17 years as a judge in the district’s highest court.
Last Friday, doctors Lisandro Aguiar, Gonzalo de la Colina and Eduardo Yuriondo were sworn in as new judges of the court, who officially joined after their appointment. Ekel Mayer was unable to attend the ceremony due to his health problems.
