Emotion grips the Maracanã stadium in celebration of the fourth Libertadores title

For several reasons, there were many Flamengo fans who were unable to go to Lima to watch the fourth Libertadores championship that Flamengo won live from the Monumental. However, it is safe to say that the fans who filled the traditional north section and turned up in good numbers in others to support and convey the good energy of the team in the 1-0 win over Palmeiras, had an unforgettable afternoon. The beautiful ceremony held by the Red and Black team, especially after the historic goal scored by Danilo, brought back memories of full match days in the Red and Black matches. It was this excitement that gripped Rio de Janeiro until dawn.

– There’s nothing to say. In 2019 I was living another phase of my life. Experiencing that at the Maracanã with the fans, even from a distance, is another level. It’s the biggest crowd in the world. Four-time champions – celebrated Pedro Mourao, physical education student.

Even before the ball got rolling, it was already possible to notice the confidence – also known as ‘red and black pride’ – conveyed by the Flamengo fans who took over the city in assorted red and black robes. The exception was the move in which Polgár and Bruno Fuchs participated. This was the only time there was calm at the Maracanã, which only ended with the whistle of referee Dario Herrera, followed by wild applause from the fans.

In the second half, Flamengo fans from Lima and Maracanã were crowned with a goal scored by Danilo, one of the recognized fans on the field. The best possible way to represent those who were in Peru, at the club headquarters in Rio de Janeiro and even those who are no longer in this plan.

– Flamengo is my biggest connection with my father (Candido Brandão), who has already passed away. We saw the title in 2019 together, and in 2022 we no longer have it. Being a foursome like this is a ridiculous feeling. I have a picture from when I was little with a flamingo shirt next to it. We came to Maracanã together. It was a bit difficult to come back here after he left, but celebrating his fourth birthday today is ridiculous – journalist Ana Julia Brandão admitted, emotionally.
