The project to construct a hub linking the Camino Centenario and the Buenos Aires-La Plata Expressway, near the City Bell, took another step yesterday with the opening of bid envelopes for the work. As indicated, 15 bidders have applied to undertake the works and are expected to be awarded within approximately 30 days.
The work is contemplated in the 2024-2027 plan implemented by Obasa with its own funds, and will favor vehicle circulation, commercial, educational and tourism activity in the area.
It is a new 2.1 km road with two-way traffic, crossings over the Roca railway lines, Martin and Carnaval sewers and the construction of a bridge. They stated that the main tasks include completing the existing bridge over the highway and building the initial distributor and two bridges, one 364 meters long over the railway lines and Arroyo Carnival and the other 168 meters long over Arroyo Marin.
The construction of two bridges – one over the 65-metre highway and the other over the Martin River 72 metres – and paving, lighting, signage, small artwork, defensive fencing and forestry, among other things, will represent a total investment of “$20 million”.
The envelope-opening was presided over by the city’s mayor, Julio Alaque, Buenos Aires’ Infrastructure Minister, Gabriel Catopoudis, and Obasa president, José Arteaga, in the Golden Room of the Municipal Palace.
During the event, Alack emphasized that the new distributor will benefit “the entire City Bell area, Villa Elisa, Junite, Jurina, Hernandez and Savoia,” and highlighted the contributions of the provincial government regarding public works.
At the same time, Arteaga warned that the project “comes to provide historical compensation for the debt that the province had with its capital in planning the highway.” He added: “The first envelope relates to all the technical conditions for the companies that wanted to participate. More than 26 national and regional companies and small and medium-sized companies submitted themselves to the tender.”
According to what they indicated, the project, which will benefit more than 36 thousand users and will generate about 100 direct and indirect job opportunities, will allow a strategic connection between the highway and the north of the region, which will complement and relieve congestion through Villa Elisa.
This intervention will also help relieve pressure on Route 415 in Ensenada, significantly reducing travel times and providing greater road safety, as well as enhancing the economic, productivity and tourism development of the region.
The estimated duration of implementation of the works once started is between 18 to 20 months. It will complete the connectivity program that began with the recent opening of the highway’s intersection with Avenue 520, which connects it to the fruit and vegetable belt.
