A group of 40 models working at the trendy Feira da Glória, in the southern area of the city, will make their debut at Parque Rita Lee, in Barra Olímpica, next Saturday (6). The first edition of Feira da Rita will also feature cultural programmes.

According to the city council, the Fiera da Rita festival will be held every Saturday in December and may continue beyond. The initiative came from Bruno Motta, responsible for the Mediterranean barbecue and grill stall. He says he noticed the movement of new exhibitions trying to attract audiences to Gloria, but he wanted to follow another path.
– Since I am an exhibitor at Gloria, I had the idea of moving the exhibition to other places. We were able to access the direction of Parque Rita Lee, and Alex Barros, who is in charge of the space, agreed. The event will take place every Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., with performances, a capoeira circuit and possibly carimbo – he says.
Mota, a Padre Miguel resident who grew up in the Asa Branca community, in Corisica, says he wanted to bring the exhibition closer to the region. It also offers part of the premiere schedule.
– I already have a singer confirmed to lead the samba circuit and I want to take over the Mocidade drums, because their plot revolves around Rita Lee – he says.

According to him, all the invited exhibitors of gastronomy are from Fiera da Gloria, including some who were transferred by the city council to Praça Paris, after complaints of overcrowding in the original space.
Motta states that the partnership with the park will also allow for the installation of a children’s area and the use of surrounding public spaces. The new exhibition has already gone viral on Instagram: the page was created last Saturday and is approaching a million views.
Model Paula Barcelos, from the Portuguese tent Dosis Barcelos, highlights the importance of the event.
— Exhibitors need to generate more resources, and this new exhibition represents an opportunity. Moreover, we bring high-quality food to a neighborhood outside the usual Gloria and Centro areas, allowing Pará residents to experience different flavors and cultures,” he says.
She emphasizes that occupying public spaces with hard work enhances the city’s identity:
-The more places we have to hold the exhibition, the better. It’s Ryo’s face. These spaces belong to all of us.
