Find out how much it costs to get from Dutra to the airport

New urban tolls will begin to be imposed on the Presidente Dutra Highway, between São Paulo and Aruga, from December 6. The system, called Free Flow, will operate entirely electronically, allowing drivers to pay without having to stop their vehicles. The date was announced on Wednesday (11/26).

São Paulo International Airport, Guarulhos, will be charged at an initial rate of R$1.37 for this section. The value is programmed and varies depending on the distance traveled, and can be viewed in advance using the electronic signals on the marginal lanes.

The free-flow system, operated by agency CCR RioSP, works with automatic read bridges that identify a passing vehicle by tag or license plate. Thus, the distance traveled is recorded and the toll is calculated automatically, without the need to stop at traditional toll booths.

Free flow toll values on Presidente Dutra Expressway (urban section)

There is a sign indicating possible destinations and toll prices depending on the route taken. The available options are: Rodovia Fernão Dias (0.25 BRL), Avenida Tiradentes (0.52 BRL), Guarulhos Airport (1.37 BRL), Bairro Bonsucesso (1.44 BRL), Bairro Pimentas (2.69 BRL) and Jardim Aracília (2.82 BRL).

For example, a driver going to Avenida Tiradentes, which can be reached at kilometer 224.790 of the fast track, covering about 4 km, will pay R$ 0.52. These values correspond to the scheduled price for a working day, during peak hours (7 a.m.), and will be the same as displayed on information signs along the route during this period.

According to the concessionaire, Motiva Rodovias, the implementation of free flow will bring more practicality and smoothness to traffic, allowing drivers to choose their route without encountering queues. The system covers the area between Aruga and São Paulo (km 231 to 204) and is part of the Via Dutra concession contract concluded with public authorities.

See how it will work

So that you are not surprised when the new urban area tax comes into effect on 6 December, it is important to understand how the system will work in practice. looks:

  • Drivers using the marginal route will not pay the free flow toll;
  • For drivers who choose to use the fast lane, the fare is calculated for each part of the trip;
  • Anyone passing through the Aruga toll plaza, which continues to operate, and following the express lane, in both directions, will not be charged a free-flow surcharge;
  • Using the tag, the amount is automatically deducted from the operator’s bill, with a 5% discount for each trip;
  • Without a card, payment can be made in a simple and practical way via the pedagodigital.com website, within 30 days;
  • The driver can pre-register on pedagodigital.com or on the app and receive the ticket history via SMS;
  • Motorcycles pay half price.

CCR, the concessionaire that won the concession auction for the Presidente Dutra Expressway in the Rio-São Paulo section in October 2021, informed that payment of the toll will work as follows: For drivers who have the tag on the vehicle, the fare will be automatically deducted from the contracted operator’s invoice, with a 5% discount for each trip. For those who do not have the card, the vehicle’s license plate will be automatically read and payment can be made within 30 days via the pedagodigital.com website or CCR app.

In addition, there will be two self-service machines for paying in person, located at the agency’s bases in São Paulo and Aruga. Initially, it will also be possible to pay the fare at the service station at km 210 towards São Paulo (Rede Duque).
